On January 13, the Board of Trustees of Ulyanovsk State University celebrated its 20th anniversary with a festive ceremony and a concert by top USU performers held at the largest city venue, Lenin Memorial Center. Among guests of honor at the event were Mayor of Ulyanovsk, Marina Bespalova, deputy chair of regional government, Vildan Zinnurov, chair of regional Legislative Assembly, Boris Zotov. more

On December 1, 2011, the Academic Council of Ulyanovsk State University adopted the resolution to reelect prof. D.Sc. Boris Kostishko as rector for the second 5-year term. On December 26, 2011, this resolution was officially approved by Ministry of Education of Russian Federation. Rector Kostishko also heads Department of Physical Methods in Applied Research, Faculty of Physics and Engineering.

On November 26, USU held an opening ceremony for “Aquaclub”, a new sports center with a swimming pool, which had been constructed on the main USU campus. more

On December 22, USU held an award presentation ceremony for winners of the federal contest titled “100 top Russian products”, where the university was recognized as one of the best Russian schools in the “Higher professional education services” nomination. more
